It's Time for KME Spirit Wear!

We are currently taking orders for KME Spirit Wear! Please look for information in today's Friday Folders but you can view the information (in color!) and print the order form from our blog. Just go to "Events/Fundraisers" and look for the "KME Spirit Wear" heading.

Movie Knight...This Friday 6:15pm---Monsters University!

Please join us in the KME Cafeteria this Friday, October 24th from 6:15-8:30pm for our first Movie Knight of the year!  The Feature Presentation will be "Monsters University"!

Cost is $5 per KME Student--This includes a slice of pizza, a bag of popcorn, and a drink.

Each additional family member can enjoy the same deal for $2.50 per person!

Additional movie treats will be available for purchase as well.

Halloween costumes are encouraged, but not required.  :)

Talk about low cost entertainment!  You can bring your whole family to Movie Knight and get a movie and dinner for the price of one movie ticket at the theater!

This Week's Reminders!

Today is Fee Pay Day! Come to KME between 3:00 pm and 4:45 pm to complete your paperwork and to pay your fees. There will also be a PTO table where you can learn more about our events for the year and join the PTO. Also, the class lists will be posted after 5:00 pm!

Remember that Friday, August 15 from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm is the PTO's annual Ice Cream Social. Please join us for sweet treats and chances for you and your children to meet teachers and to see friends! We hope to see you there!!

It’s Back-To-School Time at Kings Mills Elementary!!

A Note From Our PTO President

Dear KME Families,

The end of the school year is upon us, as well as, the end of my two-year term as PTO
president. I would like to take a moment to say thank you to all of the wonderful
volunteers here at KME. I am so honored to be involved in such a caring, devoted
community. With your help, we were able to provide our children and teachers with lots
of fun and educational programs throughout the year, along with many memories. Thank
you for your time, talents and love for KME.

A huge thank you goes out to my executive board, Sara Ritter, Alicia Brockwell, Erin
Deutsch, Angie Purcell-Hood, Jenny Circello and Kathy Smith for their support and
involvement in making the last two years such a success.

I would also like to thank our Principal, Peggy Phillips and the amazing staff at KME for
their continuous support in everything we do.

Lastly, I would like to introduce our incoming 2014-2015 PTO Board Members;

Pennies for Playground

Thanks to the wonderful generosity of our children, we were able to raise $1310.15 for our playground equipment!! This will go a long way to not only purchase new balls, jump ropes and other items for our playground but it will also help to fund the purchase of our new playground set!

Our winning class -- 2nd Grade -- enjoyed an extra recess and popsicles today!

The new playground set will be installed during the summer so be sure to check it out during our ice cream social!

KME Mileage Club Celebration

As a thank-you to all of our Mileage Club participants for completing over 2,000 miles, the Evolution Fitness Warehouse is hosting a celebration! On Friday, May 30 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm, feel free to stop by the Evolution Fitness Warehouse (2091 B West US 22 & 3) to participate in games, exercise and dance fitness demonstrations for kids, dancing, face painting, raffles and many other fun things.

Just a reminder to collect all of your Box Tops this summer in preparation for our collection competition this fall!!

KME PTO Blog Blast 5/8/2014

Good Morning KME Families! The school year is almost complete yet we still are very active here with many PTO events! Please take a look at all of the exciting things happening....

OAAs

Our third and fourth grade students have been focused on the OAAs -- the third grade completed their testing last week and the fourth grade is tackling them this week! Thanks to the PTO, our students have been receiving "Breakfast for Brains" on their testing days. This has been a great way for students to get energized for the tests while filling their bellies! Thank you to Jenny Circello and to all of the parent volunteers who have made these breakfasts possible!

Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week

As you know, this week is our Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. Students have been showing their teachers their appreciation all week in a fun "Cinco de Mayo" way! Keep in mind that on Friday, May 9, students can celebrate "Fiesta Style" by wearing fun dress-up items including sombreros, hats, ponchos, mustaches, and necklaces. 

Also, we are hosting a lunch for the teachers and staff on Friday. There are still a few opportunities left to contribute -- please check out the following link for more information -- Teacher and Staff Appreciation Luncheon. A big thanks to Heidi Pasqualetti and her committee for all of their hard work this week!

KME Talent Show

Our students have so much talent! This year, they will be showcasing their talent at our annual KME Talent Show on Friday, May 16, Tuesday, May 20 and Wednesday, May 21. Look for upcoming information regarding the times of the shows -- meanwhile, there is information about the event located on our blog under the "Events/Fundraisers" tab. KME Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon

A luncheon will be held in the KME Science Lab on Thursday, May 15 from 10:45 am to 1:30 pm for all of our outstanding adult volunteers. If you can attend, please rsvp by May 12 to jketch@kingslocal.net. More information regarding this event can be found under the "Volunteer" tab on our blog.

We cannot thank our 2013-14 volunteers enough -- we could not do all of our events without you!!

KME Legacy Tree

Be an enduring part of KME by ordering your personalized leaf for our Legacy Tree that is located in the school lobby. All proceeds from these leaves directly benefit the educational and enrichment programs that PTO provides for all of our students. For more information and a copy of the order form, please go to the "Events/Fundraisers" tab on our blog. The order form is due on Friday, May 16.

Garden Club

On Saturday, May 17 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, volunteers will be coming to KME to make our landscaping shine! If you are interested in helping or would like more information, please contact Stacia Cukovecki at cukevb@yahoo.com.

Reminders

• If you have a Kroger Rewards card, please make sure that you re-register for the community rewards program. All you need to do is to go to the Kroger website, log into your account and go to your preferences and choose Kings Mills Elementary PTO as your organization. It's that easy!! This is a great and free way to help support KME!!
• The Jump Stop Safari will be offering a play time to our children on Monday, May 26. For more information regarding this event including times and costs, please go to the "Events/Fundraisers" tab on our blog.

KME PTO Blog Blast 4/10/2014

Movie Knight

Our last Movie Knight of the year is Friday, April 11 and we will be screening "A Dolphin's Tale" in the KME cafeteria starting at 6:15 pm. If you haven't done so, please turn in your reservation form as soon as possible! More information regarding Movie Knight can be found on our blog under the "Events/Fundraisers" tab.

Mileage Club

Mileage Club is going strong! Each Monday, Wednesday and Friday during recess, children have the chance to complete laps to earn tokens! Please remind your children to wear appropriate shoes on those days so that they can participate. If you are interested in helping with Mileage Club, please contact Kim Renzenbrink at skrenz@msn.com.

Crystal Clear Science

KME PTO will be hosting the Crystal Clear Science Program for all of our students today and tomorrow. This is a fun way for our children to learn more about science so be sure to ask your children how the program was!!

Breakfast for Brains

Each year, the KME PTO sponsors a fun breakfast for the third and fourth grade classes prior to their testing days. We can always use extra hands to help prepare and clean up this event -- the dates are Tuesday, April 29 and Thursday, May 1 for the third grade and Tuesday, May 6 and Thursday, May 8 for the fourth grade. If you can help any of these mornings, please contact Jenny Circello at jenny.circello@gmail.com.

Important Reminders

• Please check your Kroger Plus card to ensure that you have linked it up with our PTO to help us earn funds from Kroger. Just go to Kroger.com/community rewards to do this. Please note -- you have to re-enroll each April so please check your account!
• Papa John's Pizza Night is Tuesday, April 22 and the classes are competing to earn a pizza party! It's a great way to help our school and save you time!
• The Kings Local School District Board Meeting is Tuesday, April 15 at 6:30 pm in the KEC Building. It is important that parents try to attend this meeting so that we can learn more about our district's activities and operations plus it shows community support.
